BUDDHIST LEADER SPEAKS -
Dae Haeng Kun Sunim, one of the few females achieving a position of leadership in the East Asian Buddhist tradition, was the featured speaker recently for a lecture entitled "Life Is Not Suffering" at the Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center at the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, 4001 Wakefield Chapel Road. Sunim, the head of the HanMaUm Seon (Zen) Centers around the world and a major Buddhist figure, spoke in Korean, with simultaneous English interpretation provided through wireless headphones. Lecture goers at the standing-room-only event included participants from Canada, California, Florida and lllinois. The event was coordinated by the HanMaUm Seon Center of Washington, D.C., which is located at 7807 Trammell Road in Annandale.
