About Who I am or Myself
Who am I? Where did I come from and where am I going? Try to answer this question. Am I just this flesh made from the combination of my parent sperm and egg? Or is there a separate, so-called soul? Or are my conscious reactions collectively my True Self? Or is there something else? We must answer this question, because We cannot live without knowing who we are.
One must first understand who the self is. Because I exist, the world and the universe exist. If I was not born, all the universe, this world would not exist. As a tall building requires a solid foundation before many stories can be built, you must first understand your true identity.
If your body is your manager, when you are in a dreaming state of consciousness and your body is at rest, what do you call that awareness or the experiencer which experiences different things regardless of the body? If you say that your will is your True Self, then why is that when the body is sick you cannot freely fix it? If you call the soul the True Self, where did it come from and then where does it go when the body dies? You must know this.
Nobody denies the existence of the root of a tree, even though it is unseen, buried underground. Are you going to deny the existence of your root just because you cannot see it? Everyone has their root. It can be called ;®True Self;&hibar; or ;®Owner of my Being;&hibar;, ;®JuInGong;&hibar;, and so on.
The watermelon of today is the result of the seed from last year watermelon. Seeds from this year watermelon are the source of next year watermelons. Then where has the seed of last year watermelon gone? Did it disappear? The seed from last year is born as the seed of this year and the seed of this year is transformed into next year seed. Which seed can you call the true seed?
Which seed has germinated to be my present self? It is my origin, JuInGong. Foolish people lose sight of their origin and only cling to what they currently perceive as ;®me;&hibar;. How can we say that what makes me now and my origin are different, when the current ;®I;&hibar; is the fruit of the seed?
Find your seed. Find your own foundation, JuInGong. That is the way to discover who you really are.
