Chicago Rime Center is an organization supporting the development, practice and integration of the various schools of Tibetan Buddhism. While exploring the richness unique to each lineage, Chicago Rime Center honors the unity inherent within the vast spectrum of Tibetan Buddhist teachings.
The Tibetan word "rime" (English "unbiased") is the term applied to the current in Tibetan Buddhism that originated in eastern Tibet in the l9th Century. It arose from the need to overcome sectarian bias in the evaluation of the doctrinal traditions of the various schools and to accept each tradition on its own merits.
Offering a supportive environment of dedicated individuals, Chicago Rime Center activities include weekly practice sessions, Dharma talks and bi-monthly Tsog offerings. Chicago Rime Center has previously sponsored a Kalachakra initiation and is working to provide the Chicago community access to traditional teachings by notable masters within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Call or write for current schedule. All are welcome.
