2. For Further Information
There is very little written on Korean Buddhism in general and temples in
particular. However, opposite Kyongbuk Palace, behind the National Museum,
there is a book shop, Pul-il, where you can buy The Way of Korean Zen by
one of the greatest teachers of this century, Ven. Kusan. It contains an
excellent history of Korean Buddhism. Then there is Echoes from Mt. Kaya, a
straight translation of the philosophy of Ven. Songch'ol the spiritual head
of the Korean Chogye Order until his death in 1993 available at Lotus
Lantern. Also you can ring Sue Bae at the RAS tel. no. 763-9483 for
information and especially if you want to go on one of their excellent
tours.
Don't Forget:
--to wear loose, sensible clothes so that you can sit on the floor (avoid
shorts);
--to wear shoes that slip on and off easily;
--to take time to tune in to the atmosphere of the particular temple that
you are visiting.
Thank you for respecting our Buddhist temples.
