What is Korean Buddhism? (extensive)

6. Buddhist Culture of the Three Kingdoms

The transmission of Buddhism to the Three Kingdoms brought significant development in many aspects of national culture. Before the advent of Buddhism, there was hardly any culture established on a national level. After the arrival of Buddhism, the arts flourished with the making of bells (the huge cast iron ones beautifully decorated with relief work to be seen at temples in Korea), pagodas, statues, carving, architecture, painting and industrial arts. Buddhism contributed to the development of the spiritual civilization greatly. But today, because of many invasions and the lack of careful preservation, only a few records exist. These consist of archaeological sites, historical remains and books.
